Technical Specifications of STANLEY 72-066

The 55×60 mm designation describes the across-flats widths of the two working jaws, not the tool's overall length. Check the nut or bolt head across parallel flats before ordering. A bolt's nominal thread diameter alone is not enough to establish spanner fit.

Where the 55×60mm Jumbo Open-End Spanner Fits

Large Hex Fasteners in Industrial Maintenance

This size combination is relevant to heavy-equipment workshops, plant maintenance, fabrication work and equipment servicing when the actual hex-head size is 55 mm or 60 mm. One tool covers either jaw size without requiring two separate open-end spanners. Confirm the service manual's approved tooling and tightening method for critical equipment.

Side Entry and Restricted Access

An open jaw can be positioned laterally on a nut or bolt head when a closed ring or socket cannot be lowered over it. This can help where nearby components obstruct top access. A ring spanner or correctly fitting socket may still be preferable where higher contact area or controlled torque is required.

How to Select and Use the Correct Spanner

Verify Jaw Fit Before Applying Force

Measure the fastener across its opposing flat faces. Use the 55 mm end only on a 55 mm across-flats hexagon and the 60 mm end only on a 60 mm one. Seat the open jaw fully on sound flats before turning; a loose fit or partially engaged jaw increases the risk of slipping and fastener damage.

Know the Limits of an Open-End Wrench

STANLEY 72-066 is a manual hand spanner, not a calibrated torque wrench or impact tool. No numerical torque rating for this exact model is published in the manufacturer specifications used for this listing. For specified high tightening torques, seized fasteners or rounded corners, follow the machine's maintenance procedure and select a correctly rated torque tool, socket or ring wrench as appropriate. Do not strike or extend the handle with a pipe to force a fastener.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is STANLEY 72-066 a 55mm or 60mm spanner?

Both. It has one 55 mm open jaw and one 60 mm open jaw on opposite ends of the same spanner. Match either end to the fastener's across-flats size.

2. Is this spanner supplied as one piece or a pack of two?

Indus MegaMart's product listing permits single-piece ordering. The item is one double-ended spanner; it does not automatically mean two separate tools. Enter the quantity needed at checkout.

3. What material is STANLEY 72-066 made from?

STANLEY specifies forged chrome-vanadium steel with a corrosion-resistant finish for this exact part number.

4. Can I order it for delivery in Vellore even when stock is zero?

Yes. Indus MegaMart's ordering policy allows orders and payment when displayed stock is zero. The stated delivery period in that situation is 7–14 days; check the delivery PIN code and final order details.

5. Does the online price include GST?

The National Product Page displays the current GST-inclusive price along with the GST breakdown. Use the live product listing for the amount applicable when placing your order.

6. Is there a manufacturer warranty?

Yes. STANLEY lists a 1-year limited warranty for model 72-066. Warranty eligibility and exclusions are governed by the manufacturer's terms.

7. Can I use it for a fastener specified only as M36 or M42?

Do not select this spanner from thread size alone. Confirm the actual across-flats hex size from the equipment documentation or by measurement, then check whether it is exactly 55 mm or 60 mm.

8. Is STANLEY 72-066 suitable for hammering or use with an extension pipe?

No such use is approved in the verified specifications. It is a manually operated open-end spanner. Use the appropriate rated tool and service procedure for high-torque or seized fasteners.

9. What if I need greater contact around the nut?

Where there is enough clearance, a correctly sized ring spanner or socket may offer more engagement around a hex head. Choose according to access, equipment instructions and required torque; do not assume the open jaw is suitable for every high-load operation.

10. Can a Vellore procurement team order more than one spanner?

Yes. Choose the required number of individual units on the exact product listing. If the requested quantity exceeds available stock, Indus MegaMart's stated delivery window is 7–14 days, subject to the destination and final order details.
