STANLEY STMT96945 60mm Open-End Slogging Spanner in Salem

Check the Fastener Size, Opening and Work Area First

Before purchasing, measure the hexagonal nut or bolt head across two parallel flats. A matching 60mm external-hex fastener is the relevant fit condition. Do not select this spanner from the bolt's nominal thread diameter, stud size, flange diameter or visual appearance alone. Confirm the fastener is not severely rounded or damaged and that the wrench can be fully seated without obstructing neighbouring components.
The open-end jaw enters from the side. That access can be valuable on large assemblies where a ring cannot pass over the fastener, but an open jaw engages fewer faces than a closed ring and can be more vulnerable to slipping if poorly seated or used outside the approved procedure. Check sufficient clearance around the head, along the handle and at the designated striking area before choosing a slogging tool.
A striking spanner is not a calibrated torque wrench. STANLEY has not been independently confirmed here to publish a model-specific allowable hammer mass, maximum tightening torque, impact energy, dimensional length or jaw tolerance for STMT96945. Do not treat generic figures shown elsewhere as verified operating limits. Consult the manufacturer's instructions and the site's approved mechanical-work procedure before applying any impact.

Product Specifications — STMT96945

This table contains only supportable product details. The presence of CrV steel does not by itself establish a particular forging grade, heat treatment, hardness, coating, strike rating or applicable DIN/ISO standard. Request the specific technical documentation if a procurement specification requires any of these details.

Where a 60mm Open-End Slogging Spanner Can Be Considered

The tool may be considered for maintenance, construction or shutdown fastening involving a verified 60mm external-hex head in appropriate industrial equipment. Examples include accessible structural connections or serviceable large mechanical assemblies, but these are possible use contexts, not evidence of compatibility with any particular turbine, flange, bridge, pressure vessel or machine. Always check the relevant engineering drawing, fastener class, work instructions and access constraints.
Choose this open-ended form where the fastener must be reached laterally. When unobstructed access over the nut is available and a more enclosed connection is preferred, compare a correctly sized ring-end slogging spanner or another approved torque-control method instead. The choice should be based on access, mechanical loading and an approved safe procedure—not on a general promise that one design delivers a particular torque.

Open-End Slogging Spanner vs Ring-End Slogging Spanner

An open-end slogging spanner slips over the side of a matching nut and may fit an assembly that blocks axial access. A ring-end tool surrounds more of the fastener's perimeter, but needs room to pass over the fastener and must match its profile. Neither is automatically appropriate for every striking operation. Confirm the actual fastening method and approved tool specification before use.

60mm Width Across Flats vs Bolt Thread Diameter

The 60mm on this spanner identifies the distance across the hexagonal fastener's flats. It does not identify the bolt shank or thread diameter, and the same thread system can have different wrench sizes in different fastener standards. Measure or consult the fastener drawing. Do not assume that any particular metric M-size automatically needs a 60mm wrench.

60mm vs 55mm and 65mm STANLEY Slogging Spanners

The separately catalogued STMT96944 is an open-end slogging spanner in 55mm, and STMT96946 is listed in 65mm. Both are different sizes and must not be substituted for STMT96945 unless the actual fastener specification calls for their corresponding opening. A mismatch can damage the nut and allow the tool to slip.

Striking Use vs, a Calibrated Torque Requirement

The word slogging refers to a tool class associated with controlled striking, but it does not supply a guaranteed hammer weight, impact rating or output torque for this exact model. For a specified tightening torque, bolt preload or tensioning procedure, use a calibrated system or another method required by the equipment manufacturer. Do not convert a suggested number of hammers blows into an assumed torque setting.

Inspection and Safe Handling

Before any approved use, inspect the jaw for spreading, cracks or deformation and the designated striking surface for chipping, cracking or mushrooming. Do not use a damaged tool, pry with it, modify its striking end or strike an unapproved surface. Use appropriate eye/face and hand protection, keep bystanders outside the striking area, secure the workpiece and follow the site's approved hammer and striking-tool procedures. The appropriate hammer type, mass and technique must come from the manufacturer's instructions and workplace controls, not an assumed universal range.

Price, Quantity, GST and Delivery to Salem

To buy for a workshop or project location in Salem, open the exact STMT96945 Product Detail Page and review the current GST-inclusive selling price, tax breakdown, quantity selection, stock indication and delivery-pincode checker. The current offer may change after the research snapshot, so the Salem page should display the live synchronised National PDP amount rather than a fixed copied price.
Indus MegaMart's page states that single-unit supply is possible for institutional buyers. Verify the exact number of spanners on the final invoice and any bulk quotation, technical document, or GST requirements. Another retailer's one-piece offer or historical STANLEY distributor MOQ should not be imported into the Indus MegaMart checkout.
Indus MegaMart permits orders and payment even at zero displayed stock under its stated stock-based policy. For quantities within available stock, the general stated delivery period is within seven days. For an order quantity exceeding available stock—including when displayed stock is zero—the stated period is 7–14 days. Confirm your actual Salem pincode and order terms before payment. A Salem delivery address does not establish a Salem warehouse, locally held inventory or guaranteed same-day dispatch.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is STMT96945 a 60mm open-end or a ring-end spanner?

It is a 60mm open-end spanner with a straight handle. The head engages a matching external hex from the side; it does not surround the nut like a ring-end model.

2. Does 60mm refer to the bolt thread or the nut opening?

It refers to the external-hex width across flats that the wrench opening must fit. It does not specify thread diameter, bolt shank size or nominal flange size.

3. What material is STMT96945 made of?

The model-specific seller-linked specification and exact-model retailer identify chrome vanadium steel (CrV). Exact grade, hardness, weight and coating specifications have not been independently established.

4. Can I use a 55mm or 65mm slogging spanner on a 60mm nut?

No. Match the actual 60mm fastener opening. STMT96944 (55mm) and STMT96946 (65mm) are separate sizes and not proper substitutes for a confirmed 60mm hex.

5. Is a particular hammer weight or torque value approved for this model?

No exact-model STANLEY hammer-mass or maximum torque rating was verified during this research. Obtain the manufacturer's instructions and follow the site's approved method. Do not treat general example numbers on a sales page as certified tool limits.

6. Can this spanner replace a calibrated torque wrench or hydraulic tensioner?

Not where the connection requires verified torque or preload. Use the equipment manufacturer's specified controlled-tightening method. Striking a wrench is not a substitute for measured torque.

7. Does the spanner have a verified overall length and weight?

A reliable exact-model dimensional drawing confirming overall length, weight and head thickness was not obtained. Request it before purchasing for tight-clearance or weight-restricted work.

8. Is the price on Indus MegaMart for one spanner or a set?

The listing describes single-unit supply and the product is one 60mm size, not an assorted set. Confirm the exact checkout and invoiced unit before placing a project order.

9. Can I place an order if the current stock counter says zero?

Indus MegaMart's policy permits orders and payment at zero stock. Where ordered quantity exceeds available stock, including zero-stock cases, its stated delivery window is 7–14 days, subject to the destination and final checkout details.

10. Can this tool be used on stainless-steel or high-tensile nuts?

Only after checking the fastener's actual 60mm across-flats size, condition, material-specific handling requirements and approved procedure. Material alone does not establish a safe striking method; avoid damaged or rounded nuts and follow equipment instructions.
