STANLEY STMT77848-23B 10mm VDE Hex Bit Socket in Erode

Confirm 10mm Hex Fit, 1/2-Inch Drive and Working Clearance

The 10mm measurement describes the male hex bit that goes inside the matching Allen/hex-socket screw recess. It does not mean a female 10mm socket for an external hexagonal nut.
The 1/2-inch drive describes the square connection to a compatible manual ratchet or hand torque tool. Check both ends of the tool independently before ordering.
The model's 120mm is a listed tool length. It is not independently verified as 120mm of exposed bit projection or usable insertion depth. A recessed screw also requires clearance around the insulated tool body and ratchet head. Check the machine or panel drawing if the fastener sits in a deep, narrow well.
For work governed by electrical procedures, use properly rated compatible insulated accessories and follow your organization's approved process. A socket's insulation marking alone does not make an ordinary ratchet, extension, the worker or an energised installation safe.

Product Specifications — STMT77848-23B

The STANLEY-branded graphic linked by the seller records the model, 10mm working bit, 120mm length and 1000V insulation claim.
A separate retailer describes testing against EN/IEC 60900, but an independently authenticated current certificate for this exact SKU was not inspected. Where procurement depends on that certification, request model-specific documents and inspect the physical tool markings.

Suitable Applications and Electrical-Safety Requirements

This socket may be considered for manual fastening of confirmed 10mm internal-hex screws in assemblies where sufficient clearance and an appropriately specified insulated drive system are available.
Conditional examples include fasteners on serviceable equipment brackets, electrical cabinets and machinery installations, only when the equipment's actual drawing specifies a 10mm hex recess, and the workplace procedure permits the task.
Insulated tooling does not replace isolation. Follow qualified-personnel requirements, lockout/isolation where applicable, verification of absence of voltage, equipment instructions and appropriate PPE. Inspect insulation for cuts, wear and contamination before use. Do not treat a listed 1000V insulation designation as blanket authorisation for energised work.
For torque-controlled joints, use the equipment maker's fastener-specific setting and a suitably rated and calibrated compatible manual torque tool. No exact-model maximum torque or powered-impact rating was established in the inspected information.

Male 10mm Hex Bit vs a Regular 10mm Socket

A male 10mm hex bit socket enters an internal Allen recess. A regular female 10mm socket fits around a 10mm external hexagonal nut or bolt head.
Both may have a 1/2-inch square-drive connection, but they work on different fastener profiles. Selecting the wrong profile can damage the recess or tool.

10x120mm vs 8x120mm and Smaller Hex Bits

STANLEY catalogues separate STMT77847-23B (8x120mm) and STMT77848-23B (10x120mm), along with 4x120, 5x120 and 6x120 versions.
The 120mm listed length is common to the range; working hex sizes differ. The 8mm version is not interchangeable with a 10mm screw recess.

VDE Insulated Hex Bit vs Non-Insulated Tooling

An ordinary hex bit of the same size may mechanically fit, but it is not a substitute for an appropriately verified insulated tool where the approved work method requires insulation.
Likewise, connecting an insulated bit socket to an uninsulated ratchet does not make the entire assembly electrically rated. Verify the exact tool-system components and their markings.

Manual 1/2-Inch Ratchet, Torque Wrench and Impact Tools

A compatible 1/2-inch manual drive provides the connection for hand use; verify manufacturer compatibility and clearance around the workpiece.
No powered-impact approval or universal torque capacity was established for this exact model. Use expressly impact-rated accessories where powered-impact work is required.

Why 120mm Is Not Guaranteed Recess Reach

A listed length describes the tool or catalogue dimension; it does not automatically establish how far a bit can project into a bore.
The insulated socket body, drive interface, fastener depth and surrounding housing determine access. For deep equipment recesses, seek an exact-model dimensional drawing or measure the available physical clearance.

Price, GST, Stock and Delivery for Erode

On the exact STMT77848-23B National Product Page, review the current GST-inclusive selling price, tax split, quantity selection and pincode checker.
The product is offered for delivery to customers in India, but a Erode delivery destination does not prove that this specific item is held in a Erode warehouse.
Indus MegaMart's order policy allows customers to place orders and complete payment even if available stock is zero.

• When the ordered quantity is within available stock, the policy states delivery within seven days.
• If the ordered quantity exceeds available stock, including zero-stock cases, the stated delivery period is 7–14 days.

Check the actual order and destination-specific checkout information before paying, rather than treating either period as an independently verified guaranteed arrival date.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does 10x120mm mean a 10mm Allen bit with 120mm of usable reach?

10mm refers to the working hex bit, and 120mm is the listed length. The exact usable bit projection or recess reach has not been independently established. Verify clearance and the actual dimensional drawing for deep recesses.

2. Is this socket used around an external 10mm hex nut?

No. It uses a male 10mm internal-hex (Allen) bit. An external nut requires a suitable female 10mm socket instead.

3. What does the 1/2-inch measurement indicate?

It is the 12.7mm square-drive connection to a compatible hand ratchet or manual torque wrench. It is not the working bit width or the screw's head diameter.

4. Is the STMT77848-23B certified to IEC 60900 and safe for live work?

The seller-linked STANLEY-branded sheet describes 1000V insulation, and another retailer markets the model using EN/IEC 60900 testing language.
An independently authenticated exact-model certificate was not inspected. Request the documents and check markings for compliance-critical use; insulation does not independently authorize energized work.

5. Is STMT77847-23B the same socket?

No. STMT77847-23B is the 8x120mm hex-bit variant. STMT77848-23B is the 10x120mm variant; the fastener recess sizes are different.

6. Can I connect this tool to any 1/2-inch ratchet?

A 1/2-inch square drive may mechanically fit, but ordinary mechanical fit does not establish the required electrical rating.
Where insulated tooling is required, use compatible, appropriately rated and inspected hand-drive accessories.

7. Does Indus MegaMart sell one piece or a multiple-socket pack?

The inspected National Product Page does not explicitly state a pack count.
Confirm the order quantity at checkout or with the seller before comparing its total price with other sellers' one-piece offers.

8. Can I order this product for Erode if the available-stock counter is zero?

Yes. Indus MegaMart accepts orders and payment at zero stock.
Under its stated policy, orders exceeding stock—including at zero stock—follow a 7–14-day delivery window, with the pincode and checkout details to be checked.

9. Can this VDE bit socket be used on a pneumatic impact wrench?

Powered-impact suitability has not been verified for STMT77848-23B.
Do not infer an impact rating from the 1/2-inch drive; obtain a specifically impact-rated accessory if the task requires impact operation.
