STANLEY STMT77831-23B 12mm VDE Insulated Socket in Erode

Confirm the 12mm Opening and the 1/2-Inch Insulated Drive

12mm refers to the socket opening that fits around a 12mm external-hex fastener. It is not the diameter of a 12mm Allen bit and not the drive-tool size.
1/2 inch (12.7mm) refers to the square drive used with a suitable insulated ratchet, extension or manually operated torque tool. Confirm the fastener shape and opening, the chosen drive's size, and clearance around the socket body separately.
For jobs covered by electrical-safety rules, use a complete, compatible and appropriately rated insulated hand-tool system rather than assuming that one insulated socket makes an ordinary ratchet electrically safe.
The listed 1000V rating is a product specification, not blanket authorization for energized work. Follow your site's qualified-personnel procedures, isolation and lockout requirements, absence-of-voltage testing and protective-equipment rules. Inspect insulation before use; do not use an accessory with damaged or contaminated insulation.
For compliance-controlled purchasing, ask the seller for current exact-model VDE/IEC 60900 conformity or certification evidence, and check the markings on the received tool. The research did not independently authenticate a certificate number for STMT77831-23B.

STANLEY STMT77831-23B Technical Specifications

Dimension warning: The 55mm length is the overall socket length, not the usable depth of engagement. D1 22mm and D2 27mm are dimensional-sheet labels for the socket body, not alternative wrenching sizes.
Measure the access space around a recessed or closely surrounded fastener. The reviewed evidence does not verify a universal torque rating, powered-impact suitability or an exact-model independent certification number.

Where a 12mm Insulated Socket May Be Selected

STMT77831-23B may be considered for manual operation of accessible 12mm external-hex fasteners in suitable equipment assembly or maintenance work where an approved procedure specifies insulated tooling.
Conditional examples include fastening on a mechanical mounting bracket, a serviceable equipment enclosure, or panel-support hardware only if the actual fastener is 12mm and the workplace procedure permits the selected work method. These examples do not establish that any particular switchgear, inverter, busbar or terminal uses 12mm hardware.
Fully engage the socket on an undamaged fastener, keep the drive properly aligned, and follow the equipment manufacturer's torque requirements when using a compatible hand torque wrench. A 1/2-inch drive does not itself establish permissible torque, and this listing does not verify an impact-wrench rating.

1/2-Inch STMT77831-23B vs the 3/8-Inch 12mm VDE Socket

STANLEY also lists STMT77813-23B, a 12mm VDE socket with a 3/8-inch square drive. STMT77831-23B is the 1/2-inch-drive option.
Both descriptions refer to 12mm external-hex openings, but the ratchet-drive sizes differ. Choose the exact model that matches a complete approved insulated drive setup; a general-purpose adapter should not be assumed to preserve insulation integrity.

VDE Insulated vs Ordinary Chrome Sockets

A non-insulated 12mm socket may mechanically fit the same external hex, but it does not have this model's listed insulating layer.
Do not replace an approved insulated tool with an uninsulated alternative where the site's electrical safety assessment requires insulation. Conversely, this socket alone does not make the user, surrounding equipment or complete drive assembly safe.

External-Hex Socket vs 12mm Internal-Hex Bit

The 12mm female socket fits around a corresponding hexagonal nut or bolt head. A fastener with a 12mm internal Allen recess requires a male hex-bit tool, not this socket.
Confirm the fastener profile before choosing electrical maintenance tools.

Socket Body Clearance and Working Reach

The technical sheet lists 55mm overall length, D1 22mm and D2 27mm.
Where the nut is inside a narrow recess or behind a cover, external insulation and socket-body clearance may matter as much as the nominal 12mm opening. Confirm the actual clear space rather than treating overall length as usable recess reach.

1000V Listing vs Verified Electrical Compliance

The linked data sheet lists 1000V insulation, and retailers describe this product class as VDE.

Erode Orders — Price, GST, Stock and Delivery

Use the exact STMT77831-23B National Product Page to see the current GST-inclusive price, tax breakdown, displayed stock and pincode checker for your Erode delivery address.
The product page shows a price but does not clearly establish a multi-piece pack, so institutional purchasers should confirm the actual invoiced quantity before raising a purchase order. A Erode destination does not imply a local warehouse, local stock or same-day dispatch.
Indus MegaMart accepts orders and payment even when available stock is zero. Under its stated policy:

• Orders within available stock have a stated delivery window of within seven days.
• Orders that exceed available stock, including zero-stock cases, have a stated window of 7–14 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is STMT77831-23B a 12mm socket or a 1/2-inch socket?

It has a 12mm working opening for a matching external-hex fastener and a 1/2-inch (12.7mm) square drive for a compatible hand tool. These dimensions describe two different interfaces.

2. Is it suitable for a 12mm internal-hex Allen screw?

No. This is a female socket for an external-hex head. A 12mm internal-hex recess requires the corresponding male hex-bit accessory, with appropriate insulation where the work procedure requires it.

3. What are its overall dimensions?

The model-specific seller-linked sheet lists 55mm overall length, D1 22mm and D2 27mm. These measurements do not establish usable recess depth or guarantee that an insulated socket fits a confined space.

4. What is the difference between STMT77831-23B and STMT77813-23B?

Both belong to STANLEY's 12mm VDE socket family, but STMT77831-23B uses a 1/2-inch drive and STMT77813-23B uses a 3/8-inch drive. Select the model that matches a properly specified insulated hand-tool assembly.

5. Does 1000V mean the socket is automatically safe for live electrical work?

No. The seller's sheet lists 1000V insulation, but safety depends on the entire rated tool system and the permitted procedure. Follow site rules, isolation and testing requirements, PPE and qualified supervision.

6. Has the exact-model VDE or IEC 60900 certificate been verified?

Not independently in this research. The socket is described as a VDE product and the seller sheet states 1000V. Request the current exact-model conformity or certification documentation and inspect tool markings if your procurement or workplace rules require it.

7. Can I attach this socket to any 1/2-inch ratchet?

A standard ratchet may mechanically connect, but mechanical connection is not proof of electrical insulation. Where rated insulated tooling is required, select a compatible insulated ratchet and accessories under the applicable procedures.

8. Is the displayed Indus MegaMart price for one socket or a pack?

The inspected National Product Page does not explicitly identify a multi-piece pack count. Confirm the current seller unit and invoiced quantity at checkout or with the seller. Do not apply another supplier's MOQ to this order.

9. Can I place an order if the stock counter is zero?

Yes. Indus MegaMart's ordering policy allows payment even with zero stock. Such orders follow its stated 7–14-day delivery window, with the delivery-pincode and checkout details to be checked for your destination.
